Preserving Historic Elements in a Modern Space
Incorporating Unique Finishes
Sachse Construction managed the construction for Under Armour, a new retail store in Detroit, MI. The store is located in the historic Kresge Building, occupying two floors overlooking Woodward Avenue.
The buildout included core and shell work and renovation of historic features internally, to both modernize the building and maintain historic elements where possible. Upgrades included installing new mechanical and electrical systems, specialized casework including a lighted shoe display, and lighting package. A number of unique finishes were installed in the space, including a wood wall by the fitting rooms and shoe fitting area as well as sports-themed murals around the store. Sachse Construction restored the original handrail on the staircase back to a polished brass and metal finish.
