Artist Spotlight: We’re teaming up with renowned Detroit artist Nicole Jarecz for our one-of-a-kind Hard Hats for Detroit auction fundraiser! Nicole, a fashion illustrator with international acclaim, uses her artistry to advocate for vulnerable youth.

Every dollar raised from Nicole’s hard hat will go directly to Alternatives For Girls a Detroit-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering young women to overcome life’s challenges and build successful futures.

Hard Hats for Detroit – Olivia Guterson – The Empowerment Plan

Artist Spotlight: We’re thrilled to partner with Olivia Guterson for our Hard Hats for Detroit fundraiser to auction off a unique hard hat designed by Olivia. Olivia is a Detroit-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of resilience and humanity, creating textures and rhythms that tell powerful stories.

Proceeds from Olivia’s hard hat will benefit the Empowerment Plan by supporting their work in providing employment and independence for homeless women.

To date, 2,000 young people have participated in the event, learning more about skilled trades than they ever dreamed possible. The event has inspired some attendees to pursue a career in the trades, a sentiment reflected in this segment with Newsy, a leading online video news site sharing stories from around the globe. New to this year’s event, Track 2 Trades supports workforce development and provides opportunities for hire-ready 18-24-year-old Detroit residents to explore job tracks, pathways, and application processes for entry-level skilled trades and construction industry jobs. Presented by Sachse Construction in partnership with Junior Achievement of Southeast Michigan (JA), the Sachse Construction Academy is a one-day event for 500 metro Detroit high school students to learn about building a career in the skilled trades. In its third year, students participated in hands-on training and demonstrations with more than 35 trade partners from across the state of Michigan. They had the opportunity to meet with unions and vocational schools to explore construction trades as a rewarding career path. To raise the bar, Shurtape Technologies offered a $2,500 scholarship to one student participant. We will announce the lucky winner on Friday, November 30, 2018. Dutch news publication DR TV paid a visit to Detroit to film a documentary on the city’s resurgence. Todd Sachse met with DR TV and gave them a tour of downtown Detroit. Sachse Construction’s 25th Anniversary: Fox 2 News Highlights Construction Academy Event

As a part of our 25th-anniversary celebration, Sachse Construction hosted a community event that will benefit the future of our city and surrounding areas. After recognizing a skilled trades gap in our region, we decided to address this issue and deliver a solution to this deficit by exposing our next generation to the construction trades.

Sachse Construction teamed up with Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan (JA) to host the Sachse Construction Academy event for 500 students from 12 different high schools throughout metro Detroit. We had 38 trusted trade partners attend the event and develop interactive display modules. The modules included tiling mosaics, installing glass, laying bricks, and extracting water from carpet. These modules engaged students and helped them become excited about pursuing careers in the skilled trades.

Enterprise Running Man

Our team members are responsible for making Sachse Construction known as a best place to work! Sachse Construction and the other companies in our Enterprise compiled a video of our team members partaking in the Running Man Challenge. Various Enterprise departments participated in the challenge, including training, finance, leadership, and property management (among others)! The video premiered at our Summer State of the Union, where we announced the winning group. Congratulations to Broder & Sachse’s Finance team! We also gave awards to the best dancer and the person who needed dance lessons the most. Let us know you think you deserved these awards in the comments section!

2016 Play it Foreward Charity Golf Outing

Sachse Construction’s held its 17th annual Play it Foreward Golf Outing on July 11, 2016, at Indianwood Golf and Country Club. The event raised over $135,000 to benefit two local Detroit charities that support the city’s youth — Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program and Math Corps. Golfers enjoyed 18 holes of golf, a continental breakfast, a Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar, BBQ lunch on the course, open bar, networking mixer, and dinner. A helicopter ball drop was the main attraction. The helicopter dropped over 1,000 golf balls onto the green. The first three balls to make it into the hole won a cash prize. We donated the remaining amount to the Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program and Math Corps.
