Sachse Construction completed Woodward West, a mixed-use apartment building in Downtown Detroit, Michigan, featuring 204 residential units and 25,000 square feet of retail space. During preconstruction, our team collaborated closely with Hamilton Anderson Associates and the owner, The Platform. This early involvement allowed us to identify savings opportunities while maintaining the integrity of both the design and the overall project.

To ensure long-term building performance, Sachse Construction partnered with a third-party building envelope consultant to evaluate critical components, including the air barrier, rainscreen siding, window and patio door openings, storefront systems, and membrane roofing. These insights informed the construction approach and helped proactively address both immediate and future envelope considerations.

Designed by Hamilton Anderson Associates, Woodward West offers a robust suite of amenities—including a rooftop terrace, fitness center, and theater room—creating thoughtful spaces that enhance the resident experience. The development features studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments with high-quality finishes, intentionally crafted to honor and contribute to Detroit’s social and physical fabric. With its prime location, residents enjoy walkable access to Midtown and Downtown Detroit’s dining, arts, and entertainment destinations. The building officially opened in the summer of 2022.
