Sachse Construction proudly managed the thoughtful renovation of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, the last freestanding synagogue in the City of Detroit. More than a decade in the making, this multi-phase project represented a bold reimagining of a deeply significant space—transforming it into a modern, inclusive hub for Jewish life in the heart of the city.
The renovation focused on honoring the synagogue’s historic legacy while preparing it to serve future generations. As part of this transformation, Sachse Construction oversaw the removal of solid brick walls on the ground floor and replaced them with floor-to-ceiling, ballistic-grade glass. This design choice invited natural light into the building and symbolically opened the synagogue to the surrounding community.
