Sachse Construction provided tenant coordination and on-site services for the $1.5 billion City Creek Center development in Salt Lake City, Utah. Living on-site for the duration of the project, the team worked tirelessly to ensure that more than 100 tenants opened on time for the grand opening event.

City Creek Center presented significant coordination challenges because it spanned two city blocks in a highly trafficked downtown area, with the main street separating the two sections of the mall. Due to the dense urban environment, docking stations could not be placed near the main road without disrupting traffic. Instead, deliveries were routed to docking stations located five stories underground, with semi-trucks accessing the area via a truck elevator. With only a limited number of “truckavators,” deliveries required meticulous planning to prevent trucks from backing up onto the street.

To address these constraints, Sachse Construction developed a detailed scheduling system to maximize delivery efficiency. Each truck was assigned an exact arrival time, and the tenant coordination team synchronized crews to unload materials promptly. Additional personnel then transported the materials to the appropriate locations, ensuring retailers could complete their store buildouts on schedule.

Through this highly coordinated effort, all retailers successfully opened on time for the mall’s grand opening.
