Two historic buildings from the late 1800s were transformed into Bedrock Detroit’s new headquarters in downtown Detroit. Due to significant interior deterioration, both structures required full gut renovations and modernization. Sachse Construction was hired to manage 45,000 square feet of historic restoration and tenant improvements.
The scope of work included restoring the buildings’ original wood structure, updating the mechanical systems, and modernizing the space for future tenant use. Bedrock Detroit’s headquarters is designed as a smart building, featuring a fully integrated HVAC system, advanced lighting controls, and enclosed offices with individual temperature zones. The project team also installed a comprehensive security system throughout the space.
Today, 620 and 630 Woodward Avenue function as mixed-use buildings with ground-floor retail and office space on the upper levels. At 630 Woodward, a striking atrium skylight now brings natural light through the center of the building, illuminating all four floors.
