Historic Theater Transformed Into Modern Office Space
A New Era for the Madison Building

Dating back to 1917, the Madison Building was originally known as Detroit’s first major movie theater. In 2011, Sachse Construction was selected to renovate the five-story building at the epicenter of the city’s growing technology district. The revitalized building introduced collaborative work areas and meeting rooms, a 135-seat auditorium, a new rooftop event space overlooking Comerica Park and Ford Field, and a first-floor coffee shop.

Sachse Construction’s efforts earned The Madison the prestigious Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Award.

Modern upgrades included SMART building technology that enabled remote operating systems, enhanced energy efficiency, and improved sustainability throughout the facility.
