A Modern Rebirth for One of Detroit’s Oldest Skyscrapers

The Chrysler House—formerly known as the Dime Building—is one of Detroit’s oldest skyscrapers and required significant upgrades following years of low occupancy. Sachse Construction delivered comprehensive improvements, including façade restoration, modernization of the building’s elevator system, and renovations across multiple floors to support new and existing tenants.

One of the signature elements of the project was the complete transformation of the basement, originally a bank vault. The Sachse team fully demolished outdated mechanical equipment and reimagined the space into a modern office environment, while preserving the historic bank safe as a focal point. Following core and shell work, Sachse Construction completed the full tenant buildout for Pophouse, creating a distinctive and functional workplace within this unique historic setting.
