University Food Service Buildout

Study and Snack

Sachse Construction was hired by Chartwells to buildout Eastern Eateries at Eastern Michigan University. Eastern Eateries is a 24,000 square foot food service market on campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan open to all students to grab a meal, snack, or sit and study.

As part of a push to encourage community eating, socializing, and learning on campus, Eastern Eateries features many food options as well as collaborative workspace for group work. Sachse managed the installation of several restaurants including but not limited to Chop’d and Wrap’d, Starbucks, and a Market grab-and-go convenience store. The scope of work included selective demolition and renovation of the existing space with upgrades to major building systems, the installation of new food service equipment, and exterior improvements to the façade. The project was completed with an accelerated schedule during the summer of 2018.
