5-Mile Retail Radius Captures 2 Million Shoppers

Southlake Town Square is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Retail Properties of America Inc. It is a 1.4 million-square-foot regional shopping destinationserving more than 2 million shoppers within a 5-mile radius who have a median annual household income of $190,000, GlobeSt.com learns.

This 130-acre open-air mixed-use development has more than 120 specialty retail shops and restaurants, including brands such as Madewell, Anthropologie and Sephora, a 14-screen Harkins Theatre, a Hilton Hotel, offices, city and county government buildings, a US post office, and residential brownstones. It is also within 3 miles of DFW International Airport.

And now, more retailers are set to open locations at Southlake Town Square. Tenants include beauty products expert Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, women’s boho brand Johnny Was and men’s lifestyle brand TravisMathew, which are expected to open in Southlake Town Square in early 2019.

“You asked and we listened,” said Jason Kasal, vice president and senior leasing director–western division with Retail Properties of America Inc. “These retailers are a result of listening to guests and acting on the input that they provided as far as what they would like to see us add.”

Kasal and his team took to Southlake Town Square’s social media to ask shoppers what they might like to see open next, and fan favorite, Lush, was one of the most-mentioned names. The UK brand uses organic fruit and vegetables in its products, which are never tested on animals. Every Lush product is vegetarian, with many also being vegan and preservative-free. Lush will open in Southlake Town Square between Starbucks and J. McLaughlin.

Another fan favorite is the brand known for a high-end bohemian vibe, Johnny Was. The California-based womenswear apparel company is a celebrity go-to that is known for detailed shirts, tunics, dresses and kimonos. Johnny Was will be located near Sephora and J. Crew.

Southlake Town Square is also the first location in Texas for TravisMathew. The lifestyle apparel brand offers men’s apparel and accessories. TravisMathew will be located near lululemon.

And, the Apple store will reopen after a transformational store expansion. In addition, women’s retailer Coldwater Creek is reopening brick-and-mortar locations after a widespread national closure, opening near Coach in 2019.

In 2018, Peloton and Hopdoddy Burger Bar were added to the retail lineup.

“Southlake Town Square is a great place for retailers to be because of its downtown setting, home to premier national retailers and local/regional boutiques, and a central business district with more than 250,000 square feet of office space catering to legal, financial and medical services,” Kasal tells GlobeSt.com.
